Coming Together

I acquired two really nice couches, the couple was such a blessing, who gave them to us. So, the craft room now has a couch, which my family enjoys sitting on and the other is in the living room, so we now have more seating for when we have company.

We also had a friends daughter over making cupcakes with Rebecca. They did an awesome job. They tasted great and looked great.

I kept myself busy as well. I've gotten back to quilting my winter quilt. Made some mini fairy tale pumpkins from

I used thread and cut out a few rounds to make them smaller. The orange one is followed exactly and the blue is with a few rounds removed.

OH MY GOSH!

I started to unpack some of my craft boxes today to try and get a start on organizing the many different crafts I have bought over the YEARS.

Lisa I need you!  I found crochet, knitting (yes), cross stitch, plastic canvas, embroidery, regular sewing appliques and quilting. On top of that I found T-shirt forms and paints (dried of course).  Then all the beads and trim for making necklaces and bracelets, etc. and then ribbons to make wreaths and you name it if you can imagine it.

Getting Cosey

Woke up today of a cool 55° and being anemic I was freezing. Sweet hubby set me up and he started our first fire in fireplace.
Pretty.

Shelves

My sweet hubby got the idea (from so much yammering I made) to put up some extra shelves. YEA!

Now to fill them...hahaha...hey Lisa?

Not My Best

Keeping with the holiday I chose this picture to color.
One handed but not my best

Walking Disaster

I cannot believe it!   After having accomplished a minor craft ... I got up to go get me a drink. I slipped on some wood and twisted my knee.  Now it's hard to walk and painful to bend.  So now my left arm is out of commission and so is my right leg.

My mom told me as I was growing up that if I didn't have accidents I wouldn't be able to do all I've done.

Finally a craft

I had surgery on my left arm on the 18th of October.  If you've ever had surgery you know you have a few bad days of drug haze where it is not safe to do anything. The first two days I felt nothing as I received an arm block which left bruises on my arm. The third day I began taking pain killers every 4 hours. This was the beginning of my haze days.

Yesterday was the first day I felt decent. October  26th, I actually wanted to go shopping, however I settled for for firing my creativity by watching DIY videos.

Now mind you ... You are only limited IF you limit yourself.

I used my right hand and my feet. It took me awhile but I finally made a pom pom.

One Down and......

One project done, yet so many more to complete. I've put my sewing machine on the table and decided to get some things done. Of course, that meant my son also wanted to fix the seams of a jacket I'd made a few years back, so he borrowed my machine. His isn't set up yet.

Finished my Shalom Y'all door hanging. Also stitched up a tea satchel for a friends birthday.

Quick things to do. Just need to get back to my quilting. Things are laid out begging to be finished. Just a matter of finding some time.

Something Old

With all the unpacking you always come across something you thought was long gone. I've tried throwing it out repeatedly, but its always lurking in a box. I believe it's my husbands doing.

I've always been interested in quilting and had no clue how they made such beautiful quilts. Had no clue about quilt shops or quilt patterns, just knew they were beautiful pieces of art work. I'm talking 20 years ago. I was completely clueless.

I could sew, cross stitch, and even crochet. All thanks to my mom, she taught me well. Quilting to me was something the pioneers did. I never realized there were still quilters. I know laugh at me and my ignorance.

What brings this all back to mind is my very first attempt at quilting 18 and a half years ago. I had just discovered I was pregnant and so desperately wanted to make a quilt. So, I had an idea in my head and just winged it. No pattern, no one telling me if I was doing it correct, no batting, and no quarter inch seams.

I didn' t attempt another quilt until my third pregnancy. By then I had learned some things. It was done by hand (my sewing machine being kaput at the time). Still no batting, this is Texas, and it was a summer baby. It turned out beautifuly, sad to say it was lost in a move.

A year later I learned to quilt and its intricacies from a neighbor. She had me quilt the Heartland Zoo Babies for a friend. Lots of tiny pieces.

From there I made many a baby quilt. Then started making quilts for my own family. Made my first queen size quilt for my 10th anniversary for my husband and I.

There is nothing like stitching a quilt for someone with best wishes and love.

Still Organizing

Still here and still organizing. Still working on acquiring shelves and some chairs. Sometimes you just need to sit back in a comfy chair or couch with a warm cup of tea and some simple hand sewing projects. Oh well, it will happen one of these days.

We've been having some wonderful weather this fall and I sure do enjoy the harvest season. Pinterest keeps me in trouble as always with all the wonderful crafty ideas and decorating inspiration.

That being said I've been doing some embroidery, that I'm hoping to make into pillow slip covers for my new living room. Kinda hard to complete without setting up my sewing machine. Though I have a spare table I can use till my desk is finished. Yay, it will do for now.

Does It Ever End

Still been busy with the unpacking, reorganizing, and general set up for a house. Silly me told my husband, I wanted the table to break down easily for when we move. Still not thinking of this place as home.

We've decided that the second living room is going to act as a craft room. Yipee! Though I still will be sharing with my kids and the occassional project of husbands.

Miss my sewing, I had started stitching my hexagon diamond patches together. Then got busy with trying to organize the craft room. It's coming along, though I do need more shelves.

Best husband ever

He not only put all furniture in sewing room...he took pictures...now excuse the mess...I still have to get in there and straighten it out.  I did not realize how small this room really was. Still need more room.

Wonderful Husband 3

Iowa covered bridges. There were a total of 6 bridges but before we left Iowa we drove to 4 of them.

He was such a sweetheart...he took all the pictures. I actually got out of car and was holding myself up by a railing and he took a picture of my rear end. I won't share it because he said that was private...lol. All pictures are on my FB page.

Wonderful Husband 2

I've had a hurt shoulder for quite awhile and my hubby has been REALLY working so hard on my sewing room. We finally got it painted...Yes I helped.

But he started moving in furniture, tables, file cabinet and even making me shelves in the closet to put my projects on. Room is too small for quilt stand Lisa and John gave me but I'm working on another idea for that.

Wow my bedroom is so bare now. I can actually see my floor. (That is when we're not unpacking more boxes).

Hoping to have it all done before my surgery.

Wonderful Husband

Not only did my sweetie take me to Iowa to see John Wayne's birthplace and museum I saw the Iowa Quilt Museum and on our way home we stopped off in Hamilton, Missouri at the Missouri Star Quilt Shops. Oh I had so much fun.
I posted all my pictures on FB.
