This N That

Trying to complete some projects before starting anymore after I complete the kids pixels. So, put together my sampler top. Been hand stitching the Dresden tie quilt and slowly epp my stars together, though still need 95 more and all the white to tie it together. I also whipped up some drawstring bags for a couple of our boardgames that needed them.
My hubby called it a Strawberry Shortcake quilt.

Stars, stars, stars

Coming together nicely.

Another Note

I really enjoy boardgames and have begun to build a pretty large collection. So much so, that my loving husband bought me two more shelves. He was the first to get into boardgames and then got me hooked. Now, I have more room for the games I keep sweet talking my husband into buying.

Just a Peek

Went ahead and laid them out. Like the looks. Took pic to help keep it straight when I get sewing. Just how it should look before adding border, hopefully.

Boys Presenting Colors

My boys are in Young Marines and have been presenting the colors at our local highschool for in town football games. They've been doing a great job of it.

Back To It

Now that I've finished the pixels, realized I needed to get back to the dresden tie quilt. Out of sight out of mind. So, I pulled it out and got all the points sewed in and pressed. The white background fabric is in the dryer now after being washed. Get to iron that next. Now to play out how I want these dresdens to look.

AGES

Its been a long while since I've posted anything. I have been pushing myself to finish all the pixel blocks. I can now say they are done. Whoo, was getting tired of all those 2 and 1/2" squares. Now I have 20 and 1/2" squares. However, I plan to let the kids puzzle them out. Then back to sewing. At least I've a bit of a break to get back to work on a few other things.

As individual squares, I'll admit I wasn't sure how these would turn out. I'm pleasantly suprised, decided to try something new and different and it worked. Though they will be a booger bear for the kids to solve. I just hope that they will enjoy solving and sleeping under these quilts. Plan to add batting and use fleece for backing. I also plan to use that no knot tie quilting to put these together faster. I really liked how easy that technique was. I'll post updated photos in the new year when they are completed.

Baby Gifts

I had found out at the beginning of summer that my neighbors were expecting some grandbabies. They had a girl in July and are expecting twins this October. So, I got busy and crocheted each a blanket and sewed up the cutest bibs and burp cloths. (If I can say so myself.)
This was for the July baby.

When I started these I had no clue if they were expecting girls or boys. Found out later it was girls.

Dresden Tie Quilt

One step closer to creating a dresden tie quilt for my pastor. I can honestly say it is a chore taking apart 56 ties. But more so when taking out the seams making them into smaller piles. My left pointer finger is extremely sore from the poking and prodding of my seam ripper. The next step will be ironing and interfacing. Going to save that for another day.
All cleaned and taken apart.
Next to iron and interface.

Rough sketch of quilt idea and placement.

August Kittens

Skunky had a litter last week. This time she gave birth to her kittens in a camping chair while our daughter was playing a video game. Skunky is a crazy cat and birthed 4 new kittens.

Yes, three look identical and the fourth is the oddball.

August Projects

Pretty bag, but my measurements
were a bit off. Bigger than I wanted.

Trying my hand at painting some
game meeples.

A multi pocketed pin cushion square
with thread catcher and needle pad.

A simple bifold wallet for my son. He didn't want to go and buy one, so had me make it instead.

Doing Favors for friends....

and then finding out you are going to be responsible for another mouth to feed.  We agreed to watch a friends pet so they could go on vacation; however, the people failed to tell us they were actually moving to another state and did not want their family pet any longer.

Now we have 2 Shih Tzu's, 2 cats, 1 Great Pyrenees and a loud ballistic Yorkshire Terrier.  My days of keeping animals are now numbered.  The cats have moved outside and come around very rarely.  My Shih Tzu's are getting old. One is blind and deaf now and the other is wondering why the littlest and newest won't leave her alone.  However he thinks the Pyrenees is it's mother.  Go figure.

Garden Cuties

The cats laying around. Don't we look
so cute.

Jake's watermelons just about ready
to harvest.

A baby bell pepper.

My first tomatoes.

I know I started my garden late but it is so nice to see it starting to produce. Just praying this crazy heat doesn't kill them off. The heat did kill off my strawberries.

Something New

Finally got myself a desk for my sewing machine. So, I feel as though I can get back to sewing. Yay! Just hate working on a cluttered table. Though I have been doing handstitching on my quilt tops. No where near being done on those or on my 'Happy Hens' cross stitch.

Bought me some needle pullers and I think they're just great. Been able to get a bit more stitching done before my fingers start complaining. Especially for those bulky spots in the quilt and the needle just feels stuck.

Also bought me a pretty jellyroll from Hobby Lobby. Just figuring what to do with it. Its so so pretty. I do need a slightly bigger purse. Hhhmmmm. With plenty of pockets.....

Dragging

Been suffering the don't wannas for awhile. Still have plenty of things to finish, just no motivation. My mom would probably call this my Eeyore phase. Though I am trying to shed the doldrums.

Organized my next set of pixel blocks. Though I dismantled my sewing desk and am rearranging the craft room yet again. I'll be sewing at the table for a bit. Did acquire a nice kitchen hutch to store my fabrics.

Also whipped up some collapsible bowls for game bits. Just glue and snaps, no sewing involved.
My hutch that I found on Offerup for free.
Yippee!

My garden looks healthy though I
started late, it will be a late harvest.

The collapsible bowls. Craft foam, felt,
tacky glue, and snaps.
